Schiff Mega Red Omega 3 Krill Oil Reviews and Product Report
You may have heard of Krill Oil and wondered what all the hype was about. Krill Oil spent some time in the spot light a few years back due as it tends not to leave a “fishy” aftertaste Fish Oil manufacturers have since found a solution to that as well, so Krill Oil no longer has any particular edge in that regard.
Schiff Mega Red Omega 3 Krill Oil Reviews have shown that another reason to choose this product may be that it is harvested from sustainable sources of krill, an organism from Antarctic regions. This has very little to do with effectiveness, but being responsible with our resources is important to many consumers, and Schiff is certainly hoping to profit from it.
Schiff Mega Red Omega 3 Reviews
Like many of the manufacturers on the market who are looking to maximize profits, Schiff offers a number of products to choose from. While they all offer the same Omega 3, they vary in concentrations, quantity, etc. Remember the key is to look at the details before you make any buying decision.
For our purposes, we examined the Mega Red Omega 3 Krill Oil supplement. The product comes in a 60 Count bottle of Soft Gels and the price seems to vary from retailer to retailer.
Schiff certainly has been in business for a long time and has a solid reputation for quality and carefully made products. The brand is well recognized by the average consumer, most likely due to expensive television campaigns and years of seeing it on the shelves of local stores. While recognition is important to Schiff, it does not mean that this product is the best for you and your specific needs.
We were a little shocked when we took a look at the supplement facts. Schiff Mega Red only contains 300 mg of Krill Oil Omega 3. Only 50 mg of EPA and 24 mg of DHA. This is way too low to only recommend 1 Soft Gel per day. Sure that allows the bottle to last 2 full months, but you are getting much less than the recommended dosage for ideal heart, muscle and brain health.
While the concentrations are low, Schiff is no dummy, and they have manufactured this formula for a reason. While we don’t understand why, they likely have their reasoning. Unfortunately, without explanation, it makes it difficult for us to compare this product among the industry leaders for you.
Overall, it is nice to have a product that is sourced from sustainable sources vs fish. It makes sense from a responsibility stand point, but that does not mean its the best for your health. This is going to have to be a person choice for you. If ingesting less than the recommended dosage is acceptable to you, then this may be the right product for you.
